The Author's Opinion of Astrology
Is there something to astrology, in all its complexity, or is it an illusion hidden behind a scientific front? Before I began researching and trying to understand astrology, I was one the thousands who read my horoscope every so often out of boredom for amusement. I never took real stock in what my horoscope said but I was curious to know if there was any scientific basis for astrology. After this research project, I view astrology as magic, an illusion. In the article by Mather, my view of astrology is summed up quite well and cleverly. "We see meaning in birth charts for the same reason that we see faces in clouds." In other words, we see what we are looking for. If we read our horoscope and only pay attention to the predictions that are accurate and ignore all of the misses, then we will see accuracy and find meaning where there is none. However, I am still the person who reads and will continue to read my horoscope every so often. This is simply for my own entertainment because there is still the human part of me that wants to know my future, believe I have a destiny, a purpose.
