Ancient Aliens in Religion
How Do Ancient Aliens and Religion Relate?
Ancient astronaut theorists believe that the bible and other religious documents are direct translations of the past and how the ancient world interacted with ancient aliens or "Gods". They use this as their main argument, as their interpretations of the past back up all of their "evidence" that they provide in their argument. It may not seem logical that they try to back their argument with another theory, but in this case it works in their favor. To many people around the world, the bible and other documents are accepted as truth. This allows the AA theory to gain support for people looking for alternate interpretations of these documents. Much of the bible cannot be proved as scientifically true, so nobody can for certain say what these religious documents were referring to when they spoke of "Gods" and miracles.
Evidence of Ancient Aliens in Religious Documents
Many religious passages have been broken down and interpreted in fashions in which correlate with their beliefs. They use such examples to attempt to provide legitimacy to the topic. One such example of the use of the bible and religious documents, was the interpretation of the story of Noah in the bible. A series of documents called the "Dead Sea Scrolls", were uncovered long after the completion of the bible, further detailing the story of Noah. Noah was apparently birthed through artificial insemination, from the "guardians of the sky", or aliens to AA theorists. The reason in the flood was to repopulate the Earth with Noah's family and the animals aboard the arc, which translated by AA theorists, was to rid the world of biological imperfections.
Another example ancient astronaut theorists use as evidence of aliens in the Bible in I Kings 19:11-12, was in a tale of Elijah meeting the "Lord". William Saylor believes that the story translates the "Lord" presenting himself to Elijah, as a spaceship belonging to AA's descending upon Elijah. As the ship descends upon Elijah, the exhaust from the spaceship is perceived to be powerful winds. As it was landing on the mountain top, the ground shook underneath Elijah. The fire from the exhaust comes into Elijah's view, and as the spaceship slowed to a stop the main engines stopped and the sound of helicopter blades were heard when it set down on the top of the mountain.
This is the direct passage from the biblical book of Ezekiel...
“And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the earthquake; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.”( I Kings 19:11-12)
This is a standard example of AA theorists interpreting religious document in a fashion in wish fancies themselves. While many look at a translation such as this and think it is absurd, these religious passages could potentially be as factual as these "wild" translations. This is essentially how the ancient astronaut theory has any legitimacy at all.
Conclusion
Essentially it is up to the viewer and/or audience to decide if the ancient astronaut theory seems legitimate enough to be a possibility. Through my research I have found that the evidence is widespread and by no means inter-connected. The "facts" are out of context and put in a setting in which they support the AA theory. The only legitimacy that this theory could potentially have is appearance of ancient aliens in religious documents. By no means does this prove the AA theory, but it cannot technically disprove it. Ancient astronaut theorists are aware of this, so that is why it is the "glue" of the argument that holds everything together. Essentially the ancient astronaut theory is an alternate interpretation of religious documents and gives answers to people who are looking in pseudo-scientific fields for answers about the world.
